DESIGN #3 - 1100 - INTERIOR VIEW FROM VESTIBULE



The concept of continuity is expressed here as the exterior canopy carries into the lobby as a floating ceiling plane, reproportioning th elobby space without making larger structural changes. This dynamic architectural element slopes upwards, drawing the viewer's gaze into the lobby's existing mural. The mural is revitalized through the illumination fo the existing vent grilles, as well as by the introductoin of new linear lighting fixtures. Set in, radial slits combine with a halo of light emanating from the perimeter of the plane, providing a diffused glow throughout the lobby. Applying an acoustical plaster finish to the plane's surface allows for improved sound quality by diminishing the harsh, resonant auditory characteristics the space.
