Repair our Terrazzo Floors!

I was inspired to put this together after reading part of the SPCooperator platform which called to "Establish a committee of expert shareholders to oversee the creation of a maintenance guide (a record of all paint colors, finishes, and other project specs) for our buildings, and to advise on long-term maintenance and preservation of the original building materials, including the murals, tiles, terrazzo, and brick". I have nothing against assembling experts and collecting information, but let's put this project on the calendar!

We've talked about lobby renovations for decades. I hope such renovations are in sight. But even if not, there is a long-overdue thing we we can do to make our lobbies delightful — fix the terrazzo floors!

The terrazzo is beautiful, and most of it is in very good condition. But there are certainly problems. There are some cracked tiles, lots of damage around the elevator doors, and big blocks of cement filler at our side doorways from when our doors were replaced. But most striking are hideous bore-holes where architectural testing was done a long time ago. (Someone can correct me if I am wrong, my recollection is that some raised tiles in Building #1 led to the fear that the building's foundation was sinking; a team of building engineers was dispatched to check this, and also to conduct this destructive check in our other buildings to assure their stability as well.)

I hope we resolve our contention over the lobbies very shortly. If there is work to be done on the terrazzo floor in the context of the lobbies, I think the scope of the project should include repair of all the terrazzo. But even if we face delays or inaction, I think we should consider fast-tracking these repairs as a way to restore some of our buildings' former elegance.

Below is a gallery of pictures I took as I walked the floor of all four buildings, capturing the most glaring issues.
